Here you will find more photos
our our trip by bus to Beijing, China. Lots of pictures of the
countryside. Pictures of Beijing as we arrive in the city, and pictures
of our hotel room. I think you can get a good idea of what to
expect if you should decide to take a trip to China, at least how it
looks from a car or a bus.
Typical road side scene...it's
difficult to get a picture without at least some buildings in it.
A bus drivers view of the
road.
What? No buildings in
this picture!
More of those canals that I
mentioned on the previous page.
By the time the Olympics
arrive there will be a solid wall of trees along most of the freeways.
An now finally we
begin to enter the city of Beijing....and it is quite impressive...if
you like huge numbers of huge buildings.
Big big roads, big big buildings, lots of flowers.
Also lots and lots of cars.
The busses all seem jam packed with people.
Apartment building after apartment building.
The pictures don't really capture how large these buildings are.
Overpasses...underpasses, and wide freeways everywhere.
And lots of construction everywhere.
There seems to be lots of parks and green areas as well.
These are immense looking buildings.
Many of the buildings are quite interesting as far as the architecture
goes...
Quite a few weeping willow trees I have noticed.
And as I keep repeating...really big buildings.
Some are really intriguing.
Lots of illuminated street
signs that reach all the way across the street.
Ultra-modern looking architecture abounds.
Plenty of traffic.
I wonder what is in all of
these huge buildings?
Talking about big streets and intersections....woo hoo.
And of course...lots of
construction cranes everywhere.
Our hotel room was
quite impressive. Very large...big bed...separate shower and tub.
The tub was pretty good sized.
The toilet was very quiet.
Impressive technology.
Taking my own picture in the
bathroom mirror.
The shower was ultra modern
looking, but leaked a lot of water when you showered.
Kathy getting ready to go
online. Free high speed connections of course.
Too bad we didn't know anyone
to invite to a party...plenty of room.
I guess it was a King sized
bed. Very comfortable.
The coffee house cafe in the hotel turned out to be our favorite
restaurant in the hotel.
We ordered a bowl of won-ton
soup...it was huge, and very good.
A group of workers inspect the trolley car wires on an elevated
platform.
The lobby of the hotel.
A neat looking sky light.
Lots of pretty girls dressed up in pretty outfits roaming around.
The air is perhaps a little
dirty?
The front of our hotel.
Another view of the hotel from the street.
The next few pictures are from
our cab ride to the pearl market in Beijing.
